MORTAR

Always use the mortar as your main siege weapon, I wanna cry everytime I see people sieging wall with skirm or culverin or even strelet.

Let's compare the siege damage of them, take Portuguese unit as example:

MORTAR: 875

Culverin: 70

Halberdier: 64

Organ Gun: 52

Musketeer: 41

Hussar: 40

Pikeman: 38

Cassador: 21

Dragoon: 18

Crossbowman: 8

I hope you see how obvious it is to utilize your mortar from now on.

ANTI-INFANTRY ARTILLERY

Below is a comparison between cannon and horse artillery, horse artillery cost 100 gold more, but kills more in less time, they are also faster (to run away from culvs and cavalry ^^).

Cannon

Less Pop: 5

Less Cost: 100 Wood, 400 Gold

Less Speed: 4.60 (non-shot mode); 1.84 (shot mode)

Less Attack: 175

Go quicker to shot-mode than the Horse Artillery

Horse Artillery

More Pop: 6

More Cost: 100 Wood; 500 Gold

More Speed: 6 (non-shot mode), 2.76 (shot-mode)

More Attack: 218

 ______

The same are: HP, Fire rate, resist, range and the attack bonus

Organ Gun

Exclusive to Portuguese, the fast rate of fire makes this piece of art effective against mass infantry. It is similar to the Cannon though it is cheaper and occupies only 4 slots of population rather than 5.

Heavy Cannon/Rocket:

These are powerful artillery availabe from factory and infinite card (German Heavy Cannon and Brittish Rocket)

DON'T PUT YOUR FACTORY TO PRODUCE ARTILLERY AFTER TREATY ENDS. You can use factory to train some artillery before treaty (4-6 pieces). But it's better to put factory on resource and train your normal artillery from your own artillery foundry until you have enough xp to send the infinite artillery card.

CULVERIN

What determines good players from the great? In my opinion it's micro of artillery. It's much harder to accomplish than you would think. Here are some tips that could be helpful for you to dominate your enemy by out-microing his culverines.

  1. If you are facing an enemy that uses a lot of cannon (i.e. french, ports, ottoman, china, japs these civs have fast training artillery) always have culverines out, or at least one training at all times. For you will always need them.

  2. It takes 2 volleys from a normal culv to completely take out another piece of artillery (with exception of ports who has team artillery HP and otto who has multiple artillery HP cards). It's good to select 2 of your culverins to take down 1 piece of enemy artillery at a time.

  3. Never keep you culverin next to each other (you should apply this to all your art) the problem being, culverin and other artillery has splash damage, so if your units are next to each other, maximum damage will be done against you. also, use this to your advantage vs. your enemy ; P

  4. Put foundaries on different sides of the battle, this allows you to train culverin and other cannon at the same time, or even culverin at both times. This will not only speed up your artillery advantage over your opponent but since ur foundaries are in different places, they can attack from all over the map.

  5. Try not to queue up all of your culverins at the same time (clicking 5 to train) the problem being that this takes up around 20 pop that you cant use while ur enemy can. This allows enemy to overpop [has more units] your army. so, instead, queue up one artillery, and just keep an eye on ur unit queue to when they get close to pop out, then queue up the rest.

  6. Micro, watch how your enemies culverin move. you will be able to see 2 or 3 culverin moving towards own of your art, what you can do is move your art back out of range and what will happen is the enemies culverin will move up in range to you unpacked culvs and you can just pick them off one by one, for their last command was to attack ur art which is now way out of range and outta harm's way.

If you can work on these techniques, you will always be able to have awesome artillery war, this will give you the advantage to drain your opponent, advance into their base and bring you a well-deserved "VICTORY IS YOURS".
